Chakramama is a community of native Kichwa women working together to cultivate an endemic vanilla orchid and repopulate the endangered Melipona bee population.
Join our program as we train Chakramama working women in cultivating vanilla orchids and nurturing our Melipona beekeeping initiative. Acquire new skills and embrace sustainable income opportunities to keep the Amazon vital and productive.
Embrace the wisdom of ancient cultures. Our work honors harmonious coexistence between humans and the planet. With stakeholder-centered governance, we ensure local producers benefit from higher and diverse incomes.
Our Mission is to promote the conservation of an endemic vanilla and endangered stingless Melipona bee in Ecuador’s upper Amazon, while providing economic opportunities for indigenous working women in the region.
We strive to create a sustainable and equitable balance between the environment, the local people and the global market. We will achieve this by providing training and resources that empower indigenous women to become stewards of the rainforest, while also creating a platform for them to market and sell their sustainably-sourced products to the world. We are committed to creating a more equitable and sustainable future for all.
